About Nahargarh Fort
The fort was built in 1734 by Sawai Jai Singh II, the Maharaja of Jaipur at the time, and was formerly known as Sudarshangarh before being renamed Nahargarh. According to a legend, the ghost of a prince named Nahar Singh Bhomia wandered the Nahargarh Fort and interfered with construction, causing whatever was built during the day to collapse at night. King Sawai Jai Singh thought that the prince’s restless spirit was preventing the building work from being completed. Thus, Sawai Jai Singh made the decision to construct a temple in honor of the price under the advice of priests and astrologers. Additionally, in honor of the prince, the king gave the fort his name. Later, the fort’s building proceeded without incident.
